MGMW plans social media training

The Midland Group of Motoring Writers is to launch a series of social media training courses to help members keep up-to-date with the latest developments in the rapidly changing online media world.

The first training session, dealing with the basics of social media, is to be held on December 15 and will be hosted by Peugeot at their corporate HQ in Coventry.

Plans for the training course were discussed at the MGMW AGM where it was decided that some members, especially those working as freelancers, would benefit from better social media knowledge and skills. The sessions will be fully funded by the Group.

Ian Donaldson, MGMW chairman said: “Some members, especially those who do not have access to company funded training courses, felt they needed to know more about the workings of social media, which now plays such a huge role in setting the news agenda.

“I am delighted that we have been able to facilitate the training. It’s all part of keeping MGMW up to speed and recognising that we live and work in a rapidly changing world.”

The first training session will be delivered by MGMW member, Andrew Noakes, who also manages the Group’s Twitter account. A second session, covering more advanced topics, is being planned for the new year.
